Meet John and Lynda Kearney
2022 Capital Region Philanthropy Hall of Fame
As Albany natives, John and Lynda Kearny have spent their lives growing and changing with our community to make a lasting impact on Capital Region families.
John has served as a member and Chair of the Town of Colonie Industrial Development Agency and the Colonie Local Development Corporation since 2010. He is the retired secretary, treasurer and business agent for the Regional Teamsters Union and has been a long-time active community volunteer.
Lynda fills her time with her family and volunteering for the community. She is a longtime volunteer for the St. Francis Xavier Orphanage Foundation supporting children in Haiti and has served for almost 15 years at Sacred Heart Outreach and Food Pantry in North Albany to provide families a nutritious lunch each week.
For more than 20 years, John has served his community in positions including Secretary and Chairman of United Way of the Greater Capital Region's Board of Directors; Board Member and Vice-Chair of the Albany Boys and Girls Club, Vice-Chair and Chair of the Regional 210th Armor Association, Board Member of the Albany County Empire Zone Administrative Board; Secretary of the Albany County Democratic Committee; and Board Member of the Regional Teamsters Pension and Health and Welfare Funds.
John attended Cornell University School of Industrial and Labor Relations and the American Institute of Banking. John and Lynda are active members and communicants at St. Pius X Catholic Church.
