This award honors an individual who has made a significant, positive impact in the Capital Region

Nominations are now open for United Way of the Greater Capital Region’s 2021 Philanthropist of the Year, an award that recognizes the achievements and contributions of an individual who has given their time, talent and/or treasure to make a significant, positive impact in the Capital Region by:

  • Contributing a generous donation(s) to an organization(s) or cause(s)
  • Going above and beyond as a volunteer with an organization(s)
  • Leading or establishing a non-profit organization that is making a significant difference in our community

“The ongoing health, economic and social consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic have both highlighted and worsened many deeply entrenched social challenges in our communities. Over the past year we have seen an incredible amount of generosity and innovative thinking to address these challenges and implement effective and just solutions,” said Peter Gannon, President & CEO at United Way of the Greater Capital Region. “The Philanthropist of the Year award is a way to recognize the game-changers in the Capital Region who are doing critical work to improve lives and strengthen our communities every day.”

Nominations can be submitted online by February 12 at www.unitedwaygcr.org/nominate

Nominations will be reviewed by an event committee comprised of Capital Region community members and three finalists will be invited to United Way’s Annual Awards on Wednesday, June 16, 2021, where the Philanthropist of the Year will be announced.
